CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University men's basketball senior
Anthony Cooper (Ashburn, Va.) scored 16 points to become the 21
st player in program history to score 1,000 career points in the Cougars 69-45 loss to Adelphi University.
The Cougars fall to 7-11 overall, while the Panthers improve to 15-6.
Caldwell jumped out to a 13-4 lead over the first eight minutes of the game. Cooper connected on a three-pointer, totaling eight points in the run. Cooper joined the Caldwell record book with his 1,000
th career point with a lay-up at the 15:17 mark of the first half.
Adelphi rallied back to take a 23-13 lead late in the half. Freshman
Mark Heber (Paterson, N.J.) drained a three-pointer in the final minute but the Panthers held a 32-18 lead at halftime. The Panthers maintained their lead into the second half.
Cooper totaled 16 points in the game, ending the day with 1,012 career points. He added five rebounds, while graduate
Gerald Blount (Jersey City, N.J.) posted 10 points, five boards and two assists.
The Cougars return to conference play as they travel to Wilmington University on Saturday, February 5 at 3 pm.
