WEST CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University women's lacrosse freshmen
Hannah Glaser (Boonton, N.J.) and
Madison Ellis (Wayne, N.J.) netted three goals apiece in their collegiate debuts as the Cougars fell to D'Youville College 16-8 in a non-conference contest.
The Cougars open their season at 0-1, while the Saints improve to 2-1.
The Saints built an 8-2 lead midway through the second quarter as Glaser and Ellis accounted for the Cougar goals in the early going.
Caldwell rallied with four straight goals as Ellis netted two goals, while Glaser and junior
Kelsey Maxwell (Center Moriches, N.Y.) each scored on to close the gap to 8-6 with 3:28 left in the first half. D'Youville tallied two goals in the final minute to take a 10-6 at halftime.
The Saints scored three goals in the third and fourth quarters, while Glaser notched her third of the day. Senior
Emily Lasko (Jackson, N.J.) scored the final Caldwell goal with 7:31 left in the game.
Senior
Mia Monacelli (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) played all 60 minutes, recording 12 saves in the game.
The Cougars return to action as they travel to Molloy College on Tuesday, March 1 for a non-conference game at 4 pm.
