CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University women's basketball junior
Jessica Wagoner (Clifton Park, N.Y.) dropped in 12 points as the Cougars fell to Post University 68-51 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars fall to 12-14 overall and 7-9 in the CACC, while the Eagles improve to 17-7 and 11-5 in conference play.
The teams traded points to start the game as senior
Paula Dits (Alicante, Spain) drained a triple at the 3:19 mark of the first quarter for an 11-9 Caldwell lead.
Post rallied back to take a 22-17 lead midway through the second quarter. The Cougars answered to close the gap to 24-23 with a Dits bucket at the 4:05 mark. The Eagles closed the half with a late run to take a 34-27 lead at halftime.
The Eagles scored the first 12 points of the second half to extend their lead and maintained their advantage through the second half.
Wagoner paced the Cougars with 12 points, five rebounds and two blocks. Junior
Casey O'Shaughnessy (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished with 10 points and two boards, while Dits added 10 points, three rebounds and two blocks. Graduate
Shanice Graves (Brooklyn, N.Y.) tallied six points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Prior to the game, Dits and Graves were recognized as part of senior day.
The Cougars close out the regular season as they travel to Bloomfield College for a CACC contest on Saturday, February 26 at 1 pm.
