Morrison’s 18 Points Not Enough as Women’s Basketball Falls to Felician in Buzzer Beater

RUTHERFORD, N.J.- Caldwell University women's basketball junior Rebecca Morrison (Ayrshire, Scotland) scored 18 points but the Cougars were edged by Felician University at the buzzer 68-67 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
 
The Cougars fall to 12-13 overall and 7-8 in the CACC, while the Golden Falcons improve to 12-13 and 10-6 in conference play.
 
Felician got out to an early lead at 11-3 midway through the opening quarter. The Cougars flipped the script as they used a 38-9 run that lasted late into the second quarter to pull ahead by double digits.
 
Junior Halle Brown (Downingtown, Pa.) drained three trifectas in the run as part of an 11-point first half for Brown. Junior Casey O'Shaughnessy (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 10 points, including a triple and a three-point play at the 2:02 mark of the second quarter to put the Cougars ahead 41-20. Felician added four late points to cut the score to 41-24 at halftime.
 
The Golden Falcons closed the gap to 57-50 with 7:18 left in the fourth quarter. The Cougars answered with an 8-2 burst to push their lead back to double digits at 65-52 with 4:35 remaining in the game. Felician rallied back over the final four minutes as they netted the game-winning bucket as time expired.
 
Morrison led the way with 18 points, nine rebounds and two steals. O'Shaughnessy added 14 points and four boards, while Brown finished with 13 points, four rebounds and four assists.
 
The Cougars host Post University in their home finale on Wednesday, February 23 at 5:30 pm in a CACC contest. Wednesday's game will feature senior night for the Cougars.
