CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University men's basketball sophomore 
Mark Heber (Paterson, N.J.) scored 21 points as they Cougars won their fifth in a row with a 94-60 victory over Alliance University in their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener.
 
The Cougars improve to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the CACC, while Alliance falls to 4-6 and 0-2 in conference play.
 
Caldwell flipped an early 5-2 deficit into a 14-7 lead at the 14:34 mark of the opening half. Sophomore 
Jarnel Rancy (Middle Island, N.Y.) converted a three-point play, while Heber totaled seven points in the run. Heber capped the run with a three-pointer to give the Cougars a seven-point lead.
 
The Cougars continued their solid play ate in the first half as they built a 49-29 lead at halftime.
 
Alliance cut the score to 51-37 early in the second half but the Cougars answered with a 26-4 run to pull ahead 77-40. Heber paced the run with 11 points including two three-pointers and a three-point play. Senior 
Tyler Washington (Hampton, Ga.) added six points in the run to help Caldwell take control of the game.
 
Heber led the way with 21 points and two steals, while shooting 8-for-11 from the field and 4-for-6 from downtown. Washington added 18 points and five assists, while sophomore 
Derrick Bueno (Palisades Park, N.J.) totaled 10 points and four boards. Freshman 
Daniel Boateng (Fords, N.J.) netted 10 points, four rebounds and three steals, while freshman 
Moussa Ngom (Centreville, Va.) led the team with 10 rebounds. Freshman 
Darnell Evans (Deer Park, N.Y.) finished with six points, seven rebounds and six assists, while Rancy recorded four blocks.
 
The Cougars host Felician University in a CACC contest on Tuesday, December 6 at 7:30 pm.
