ORANGEBURG, N.Y.- Caldwell University women's basketball senior
Casey O'Shaughnessy (Brooklyn, N.Y.) dropped in 16 points as the Cougars returned to action following the Christmas break with a 78-49 setback to Dominican University of New York in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action.
The Cougars fall to 5-6 on the season and 1-2 in the CACC, while the Chargers improve to 8-5 and 4-0 I conference play.
Dominican took a 13-3 lead over the first six minutes of the game. The Cougars rallied back, closing to within four points at 15-11 following an O'Shaughnessy three-point play.
The Chargers pushed ahead by 10 points midway through the second quarter. Freshman
Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) drained a triple at the 4:03 mark to trim the score to 27-20 but the Chargers pulled ahead 34-22 at the break. Dominican maintained their lead through the second half.
O'Shaughnessy led the way for the Cougars with 16 points along with three rebounds. Freshman
Alisa Blalock (Uniondale, N.Y.) added nine points, three boards and five steals, while Coogan finished with seven points and four rebounds. Senior
Rebecca Morrison (Ayrshire, Scotland) grabbed a team-best eight boards.
The Cougars close out the 2022 calendar on the road at Holy Family University for a New Year's Eve conference match-up at 12 pm.
