ORANGEBURG, N.Y.- The Caldwell University men's basketball team used a balanced offensive attack as the Cougars defeated Cheyney University of Pennsylvania 82-31 to close out play at the Daniel Sullivan Memorial Tournament hosted on the campus of Dominican University of New York.
 
The Cougars improve to 2-3, while the Wolves fall to 2-2.
 
Caldwell opened up a double-digit lead midway through the half. Sophomore 
Mark Heber (Paterson, N.J.) drained a triple, while freshman 
Darnell Evans (Deer Park, N.Y.) netted six points early, including a triple and a three-point play to help the Cougars build a 28-14 lead. The Cougars continued their surge late as they held a 37-16 lead at halftime.
 
The Cougars continued their solid play into the second half as they shot 53.1% in the second half as they maintained a double-digit lead to the final buzzer.
 
Heber shot 3-for-4 from downtown, finishing with 15 points and six rebounds. Senior 
Tyler Washington (Englewood, N.J.) added 11 points, six rebounds, two assists and three steals, while Evans totaled 10 points, two boards, two assists and two steals. Freshman 
Landon Shivers (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) posted 10 points and four rebounds, sophomore 
Jarnel Rancy (Middle Island, N.Y.) recorded seven blocks and four boards.
 
The Cougars return to action after Thanksgiving as they host Mercy College in their home opener on Sunday, November 27 at 1 pm.
