PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- Caldwell University men's soccer junior
Israel Dos Santos Neto (Salvador Bahia, Brazil) scored a pair of goals as the Cougars edged Chestnut Hill College 3-2 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars win their second in a row to improve to 4-6-2 overall and 3-2-2 in the CACC, while the Griffins fall to 2-8-3 and 1-4-2 in conference play.
Chestnut Hill struck first as they scored a goal in the 11
th minute to take the early lead. Neto got the Cougars on the board with a goal in the 16
th minute of play to even the score at 1-1.
Neto scored his second of the day off an assist from sophomore
Thomas Shin (Ridgefield, N.J.) in the 20
th minute to give Caldwell a 2-1 lead. Senior
Andre Vieira (Union, N.J.) added an insurance goal on Shin's second assist of the game in the 33
rd minute for a 3-1 lead at halftime.
Chestnut Hill closed the gap to 3-2 with a goal in the 88
th minute of play but the Cougar defense held on late to earn the victory.
Sophomore
Dylan Valencia (Elizabeth, N.J.) played all 90 minutes, recording 10 saves in the win.
The Cougars hosts Bloomfield College in a CACC contest on Wednesday, October 11 at 4 pm.
