PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The #7 seed Caldwell University women's soccer team netted a pair of second half goals and held off a late rally to notch a 2-1 upset victory against three-time defending conference champions #2 Thomas Jefferson University in the Quarterfinals of the 2022 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Soccer Championship.
 
The Cougars win their fourth game in a row to improve to 7-7-4 overall and advance to Friday's CACC Semifinals. The Rams fall to 11-6-1 on the season.
 
The teams battled through a scoreless first half with the Cougars holding a 5-4 edge in shots over the first 45 minutes. The game remained tied deep into the second half before Caldwell broke the tie.
 
Sophomore 
Alexa Peto (Toms River, N.J.) scored the first goal of game off assists from senior 
Nicole Alfano (Union, N.J.) and junior 
Megan Feehan (Point Pleasant, N.J.) in the 70th minute.
 
Two minutes late, the Cougars took a two-goal advantage as senior 
Sarah Costanza (Morris Plains, N.J.) netted the second goal for the visitors off an assist from senior 
Stephanie DeOcampo (Sayreville, N.J.) in the 72nd minute.
 
Thomas Jefferson got on the board in the 79th minute of play to trim the score to 2-1. The Rams had one final scoring chance with under a minute to play but freshman 
Ariana Gaminara (North Las Vegas, Nev.) came up with a clutch save to preserve the lead as Caldwell held on for the upset victory.
 
Thomas Jefferson held the edge in shots 11-10 and shots on goal 6-5 and finished with a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
 
Gaminara posted her seventh win of the season as she recorded five saves in the victory.
 
The #7 Cougars advance to the 2022 CACC Women's Soccer Championship Semifinals on Friday, November 4 at 7 pm. The Cougars face #6 seed Chestnut Hill College with the semifinals being hosted on the campus of Holy Family University.
