CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University men's soccer senior
Andre Vieira (Union, N.J.) and junior
Alex Spencer (St. Andrew, Jamaica) each scored two goals as the Cougars blanked Goldey-Beacom College 4-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars improve to 5-8-3 overall and 4-4-3 in the CACC, while the Lightning drop to 0-13-2 and 0-7-2 in conference play.
Caldwell struck early as Vieira scored on a breakaway in the fourth minute of play. The Cougars added to their lead late in the half as Spencer scored off a deflection in the 34th minute.
Vieira struck again early in the second half, this time off an assist from junior
Israel Dos Santos Neto (Salvador Bahia, Brazil) in the 49th minute of play. Spencer capped the scoring in the 75th minute with the final goal of the game.
Vieira (6) and Spencer (4) led the team in shots as the Cougars outshot the Lightning 23-8 and 15-3 in shots on goal. Caldwell also held a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Sophomore
Dylan Valencia (Elizabeth, N.J.) recorded his first shutout of the season as he recorded three saves to improve his record to 4-6-3.
The Cougars travel to Alliance University for a CACC contest for their regular season finale on Wednesday, October 26 at 1 pm.
