CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University women's volleyball junior
Reese Sherwood (Salem Ore.) recorded her eighth triple-double of the season as the Cougars fell short to the University of Bridgeport 3-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division contest.
The Cougars fall to 5-12 overall and 4-6 in the CACC, while the Purple Knights improve to 7-15 and 6-5 in conference play.
Caldwell rallied back from an early deficit to take the opening set 25-22. Bridgeport evened the match with a 25-14. The Purple Knights took an early lead in the third set but the Cougars rallied to pull even at 20-20. Bridgeport scored the next four points and took the third set 25-22. Caldwell jumped out to a 9-6 lead in the fourth set but the Purple Knights rallied to pull ahead 13-10 and won the set 25-16.
Sherwood led the Cougars with 11 kills, 13 assists and 10 digs, while junior
Amanda Schiltz (Durham, N.C.) finished with six kills and five total blocks (one solo). Freshman
Wyette Schubert-Brown (Chatsworth, N.J.) added six kills and five digs.
Graduate
Samantha Ashton (Colonia, N.J.) posted five kills and three blocks, while senior
Alexsandra Mojica (Kearny, N.J.) totaled five kills and four digs.
Graduate
Shayna Saltzman (Pine Beach, N.J.) finished with 13 assists and four digs, while graduate
Humiko Stormer (Luckey, Ohio) led the team with 15 digs.
The Cougars host Alliance University for a CACC contest on Thursday, October 13 at 5 pm.
