CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University women's basketball team fell short to regionally ranked University of the Sciences 58-48 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
 
The Cougars fall to 10-9 overall and 5-5 in the CACC, while the Devils improve to 13-3 and 8-2 in conference play.
 
Junior 
Rebecca Morrison (Ayrshire, Scotland) drained an early three-pointer to help the Cougars build a 9-6 lead late in the opening quarter. The Devils rallied back as they pulled ahead 21-16 at the 4:38 mark of the second quarter.
 
Caldwell battled back late in the second quarter to take a halftime lead. Junior 
Casey O'Shaughnessy (Brooklyn, N.Y.) converted a three-point play and added a triple as the Cougars held a 26-23 lead at halftime.
 
The Devils pulled even late in the third quarter at 33 at the 3:30 mark and took a four-point lead late in the quarter. Morrison drained a pair from the line early in the fourth quarter to pull the Cougars back even at 37. USciences retook the lead, taking a 52-42 lead late in the game and hit six free throws in the final minute to off the Cougars.
 
O'Shaughnessy led the way with 12 points, while senior 
Paula Dits (Alicante, Spain) finished with 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Morrison added nine points, five boards and five blocks.  
 
The Cougars host Thomas Jefferson University for a non-conference contest on Wednesday, February 2 at 5:30 pm.
