BRIDGEPORT Conn.- Caldwell University women's volleyball sophomore Reese Sherwood (Salem, Ore.) tallied 13 kills as the Cougars came up short to the University of Bridgeport 3-2 in a non-conference match.
The Cougars fall to 0-7 on the season, while the Purple Knights improve to 5-3.
Caldwell won the first two sets 26-24 and 25-22. Bridgeport rallied back to even the match as they won the next two sets 25-21 and 26-24. The Purple Knights won the match with a 15-13 win in the deciding fifth set.
Sherwood tallied 13 kills, 12 assists, five digs and two total blocks. Senior Olivia Bellamy (Davison, Mich.) added nine kills and two block assists.
Senior Samantha Ashton (Colonia, N.J.) recorded 18 assists, five service aces and 18 digs. Graduate Shayna Saltzman (Pine Beach, N.J.) netted 14 digs and three aces, while sophomore Amanda Schiltz (Durham, N.C.) finished with eight kills and three digs. Senior Humiko Stormer (Luckey, Ohio) totaled 17 digs and seven assists.
The Cougars host Dominican College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match on Thursday, September 23 at the George R. Newman Center at 5 pm.
