CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University women's volleyball sophomore
Reese Sherwood (Salem, Ore.) posted 10 kills as the Cougars fell short to Southern Connecticut State University 3-1 in a non-conference match.
The Cougars fall to 0-5 on the season, while the Owls improve to 7-2.
The Owls took the first two sets 25-19 and 25-16. The Cougars battled back to win the third set 25-22 but Southern Connecticut took the match with a 25-15 win in the fourth set.
Sherwood led the way with a solid all-around performance as she finished with 10 kills, eight assists, one service ace, four block assists and nine digs.
Junior
Mary Grace Hartmann (Cutchogue, N.Y.) added six kills, two aces and five block assists, while sophomore
Amanda Schiltz (Durham, N.C.) totaled six kills and two block assists.
Senior
Samantha Ashton (Colonia, N.J.) posted 12 assists, two aces and six digs, while senior
Humiko Stormer (Luckey, Ohio) netted a match-high 22 digs.
The Cougars open Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play as they host Bloomfield College on Wednesday, September 15 at the George R. Newman Center at 5 pm.
