Brown Nets Three Goals in Men’s Lacrosse Loss to Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Del.- The Caldwell University men's lacrosse team closed out the 2021 regular season with a 17-5 loss to Wilmington University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game. The Cougars have qualified for the post season with the conference office releasing the bracket this weekend.
 
The Cougars fall to 5-5 overall and 3-3 in the CACC, while the Wildcats improve to 4-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
 
The teams traded runs to start the game as sophomore Michael Brown (Glenolden, Pa.) tied the game at the 12:30 mark. Wilmington netted three goals late in the opening quarter to pull ahead 4-1.
 
Sophomore Owen Healey (Washington, N.J.) netted a man-up goal early in the second quarter but the Wildcats answered with six goals in the quarter to lead 10-2 at halftime.
 
Brown scored twice on the extra man opportunity in the second half, while sophomore Kevin Albright (Mays Landing, N.J.) netted his lone goal of the game midway through the final quarter.
 
Brown led the Cougars with a trio of goals in the game. Albright added one goal and one assist, while Healey scored one for the Cougars.
 
Sophomore Tim Livingston (Holtsville, N.Y.) played the first half, totaling five saves. Junior Wayne Safreed (Mt. Arlington, N.J.) recorded five saves in the third quarter, while freshman Shane Murphy (Middletown, N.J.) posted four saves in the final quarter.
 
The Cougars has qualified for the CACC postseason tournament that begins on Tuesday, May 4. The bracket for the CACC Championship will be announced this weekend.
