BLOOMFIELD, N.J.- The Caldwell University softball team fell to Bloomfield College 5-2 in the opener with game 2 ending in a 2-2 tie in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader,.

The Cougars move to 3-4-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the CACC, while the Bears stand at 2-3-1 and 2-1-1 in conference play.

In the opener, Caldwell got on the board in the first inning as junior
Lauren Stansell (Plantation, Fla.) drew a leadoff walk. She came around to score later in the inning on a double by junior
Chloe VanGorder (Harveys Lake, Pa.).

The Cougars added a run in the third inning as sophomore
Taylor Mischler (Endicott, N.Y.) reached on an infield single and scored later in the inning on an error.

Bloomfield rallied back in the fourth inning as they scored five runs to pull ahead 5-2.

Junior
Mariah Culver (Owego, N.Y.) took the loss as she tossed four innings, allowing five runs on six hits with five strikeouts.

In the nightcap, the Bears took the lead with a run in the first inning and a one in the third for a 2-0 lead.

Caldwell rallied back in the fifth inning as senior
Anyssia Ramirez (Brentwood, Calif.) singled to lead off the inning. Freshman
Samantha Nuneviller (Harleysville, Pa.) and freshman
Valerie Joaquin (Long Beach, Calif.) followed with walks to load the bases. Stansell and Mischler drew back-to-back walks to force in the tying run.

The scored remained tied and headed to the eighth inning but neither team broke the deadline. The game ended in a 2-2 tie.
