CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University baseball team collected 15 hits but fell short to Bloomfield College 8-4 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division contest.

The Cougars fall to 8-12 overall and 6-10 in the CACC, while the Bears improve to 8-13 and 8-11 in conference play.

Bloomfield took the early lead with a pair of runs in the first inning. The Cougars battled back in the third as junior
Frank Lehmann (Colonia, N.J.) led off the inning with a solo homerun. Graduate
Dhillon Barbetti (West Long Branch, N.J.) followed with a double and came around to score later in the inning on an infield single by senior
Tavis Brunson (Westfield, N.J.) to tie the game at 2-2.

The teams traded runs in the third as the Bears took a 3-2 lead with a run. Caldwell pulled even with a run in their half of the inning as graduate
Jack Zosulis (East Windsor, N.J.) singled with one out. Zosulis scored later in the inning on a game-tying single by Lehmann.

Bloomfield pushed ahead with three runs in the sixth for a 6-3 lead. Caldwell added a run in the eighth in a run scoring double by Zosulis. The Bears tacked on two runs in the ninth for extend their lead.

Michael Hess (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) toss 2 2/3 innings in relief, allowing three runs on one hit with three strikeouts to fall to 1-2.

The Cougars travel to Dominican College for a CACC doubleheader on Thursday, April 29 at noon.
