WEST CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University men's lacrosse sophomore
Michael Brown (Glenolden, Pa.) and freshman
Jayden Paladino (Hawthorne, N.J.) each scored three goals as the Cougars held off Felician University 11-7 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game.
The Cougars improve to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the CACC, while the Golden Falcons fall to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
The Cougars got off to a fast start as sophomore
Kevin Albright (Mays Landing, N.J.) got the scoring started with a goal at the 12:36 mark of the opening quarter. Paladino netted his first goal of the game less than a minute later. Felician broke the run with a goal, while graduate
Chris Snow (Ledgewood, N.J.) netted a goal in the final seconds of the quarter for a 3-1 lead after one.
The Golden Falcons scored early in the second quarter to close the gap to 3-2. Sophomore
Owen Healey (Washington, N.J.) and Brown added goals for the Cougars as they pulled ahead 5-2 at halftime.
Felician netted a goal early in the second half to cut the score to 5-3. Caldwell closed the quarter with four unanswered goals. Freshman
Jason Staudte (Sound Beach, N.Y.) netted the first goal in the run at the 8:53 mark. Brown netted back to back tallies, while Paladino closed the run with a goal for a 9-3 lead heading to the final quarter.
The Golden Falcons rallied back with four straight goals to close the gap to 9-7 midway through the final quarter. Albright and Paladino added goals for the Cougars to hold off Felician down the stretch.
Brown finished with four points on three goals and one assist. Staudte and Snow finished with identical lines of one goal and three assists. Paladino netted three goals, while Albright finished with two goals.
Sophomore
Tim Livingston (Holtsville, N.Y.) played all 60 minutes and recorded 14 saves in the win.
The Cougars travel to Dominican College for a CACC contest on Thursday, April 29 at 3 pm.
