WEST CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University women's lacrosse graduate
Arden Kassaleh (Pompton Plains, N.J.) tallied nine points as the Cougars fell to Wilmington University 25-15 in a in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars fall to 3-6 overall and 3-3 in the CACC, while the Wildcats improve to 4-4 and 4-2 in conference play.
Wilmington got off to a fast start as they netted the first three goals of the game. The Cougars rallied back as they scored six of the next seven goals in the game to take a two-goal lead.
Junior
Emily Lasko (Jackson, N.J.) and senior
Samantha Murphy (Pompton Plains, N.J.) each scored a goal for Caldwell, while Kassaleh netted four goals to give the Cougars a 6-4 lead with 18:29 left in the first half.
The Wildcats answered with seven goals to pull ahead 11-6 late in the half. The teams traded goals as senior
Marisa Amoresano (Denville, N.J.) and Murphy netted goals to trail 13-8 late in the half. Murphy and Kassaleh netted goals in the final 2:10 to close the gap to 13-10 at halftime.
Wilmington extended their lead in the second half as Kassaleh netted three goals, while Murphy and sophomore
Kelsey Maxwell (Center Moriches, N.Y.) notched goals for the Cougars.
Kassaleh tallied eight goals, one assists, four ground balls and one draw control. Murphy totaled four goals, three assists, three ground balls and 10 draw controls. Lasko finished with one goal and five assists.
Junior
Mia Monacelli (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) netted 14 saves in the game.
The Cougars host Georgian Court University for a CACC contest on Saturday, May 1 at 1 pm at Essex Valley Field in West Caldwell.
