WATERBURY, Conn.- Caldwell University men's lacrosse sophomore
Kevin Albright (Mays Landing, N.J.) tallied six goals as the Cougars rallied past Post University 11-7 to notch the program's first-ever conference victory.
The Cougars even their record at 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. The Eagles drop to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
Post jumped out to an early lead with a goal at the 10:59 mark of the first quarter. The Cougars evened the score five minutes later as freshman
Jayden Paladino (Hawthorne, N.J.) netted the tying goal. The Eagles answered with two goals before Albright tallied his first of the game in the final seconds of the quarter as Caldwell trailed 3-2.
The Eagles stretched their lead to 5-2 with a pair of goals early in the second quarter. Graduate
Chris Snow (Ledgewood, N.J.) closed the gap with a man-up goal at the 8:51 mark but the Eagles answered later in the quarter with a man-up tally.
Paladino netted his second goal of the game with under two minutes to play in the half as the Cougars trailed 6-4 at halftime.
Post notched a goal early in the third quarter to push their lead to 7-4 but Caldwell's defense held strong as they kept the Eagles off the board the rest of the game.
Snow pulled the Cougars to within 7-5 with a tally with 6:37 remaining in the third quarter. Albright added three goals in the quarter including the tying goal at the 3:20 mark and the eventual go-ahead goals less than 30 seconds later.
Caldwell added three goals in the fourth quarter as Snow netted one and Albright added two more to his game total.
Albright finished with a career-high six goals in the win along with two ground balls. Snow added three goals and two assists, while freshman
Jason Staudte (Sound Beach, N.Y.) dished out four assists for the Cougars.
Sophomore
Tim Livingston (Holtsville, N.Y.) played all 60 minutes and recorded nine saves in the win.
The Cougars host Georgian Court University in a CACC contest on Saturday, April 24 at 10 am at Essex Valley Field in West Caldwell.
