HOCKESSIN, Del.- The Caldwell University baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference twin bill against Goldey-Beacom College.

The Lightning took the opener 13-0, while the Cougars rallied back from an early deficit to win game two 2-1 in extra innings.

The Cougars move to 7-9 overall and 5-7 in the CACC, while the Lightning stand at 8-1 and 7-1 in conference play.

Caldwell was held to four hits in the opener, while Goldey-Beacom collected 11 hits in their game one win.

The script flipped in the nightcap as Caldwell's pitching combined to limit the Lightning to one hit.

Dhillon Barbetti (West Long Branch, N.J.) reached second on a two-base error to start the inning. Barbetti moved to third on a wild pitch and junior
Jalen March (Baltimore, Md.) tied the game with a sacrifice fly to score Barbetti.

The score remained tied after seventh inning and headed to extra innings. In the eighth, Caldwell took advantage of a Goldey-Beacom error to push ahead the go-ahead run.

Elias Negron (Virginia Beach, Va.) got the starting, tossing six innings, allowing one run on one hit with three strikeouts. Freshman
Logan Spakowski (Beachwood, N.J.) earned the win in relief, pitching two scoreless and hitless inning, striking out three.

The Cougars host Post University in a CACC contest on Tuesday, April 20 at 3 pm at the Kiwanis Oval.
