CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University women's volleyball junior
Elise Smith (O'Fallon, Ill.) tallied 18 kills to help the Cougars to their first win of the spring season as they defeated Nyack College 3-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars improve to 1-2 overall and 1-2 in the CACC, while the Warriors fall to 1-3 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
Nyack took the opening set 25-22 but the Cougars evened the match with a 25-17 second set win. Caldwell won the final two sets 25-20 and 25-18 to take the match.
Smith led the way with 18 kills and 11 digs. Sophomore
Victoria Marquez (Humble, Texas) netted 14 kills, two aces and 14 digs.
Senior
Marina Schlaepfer (Aurora, Colo.) added nine kills, while freshman
Reese Sherwood (Salem, Ore.) finished with five kills, 27 assists and 11 digs and five total blocks (two solo).
Freshman
Amanda Schiltz (Durham, N.C.) tallied four kills and six total blocks (three solo). Junior
Samantha Ashton (Colonia, N.J.) totaled 13 assists, two aces and 14 digs, while junior
Humiko Stormer (Luckey, Ohio) recorded 19 digs. Freshman
Kylie Flynn (Paterson, N.J.) added 14 digs in the win.
