CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University baseball team fell in the opener 7-4 to Queens College but took the nightcap in walk-off fashion with a 7-6 win in a non-conference twin bill.

The Cougars move to 2-1 on the season, while the Knights stand at 1-1.

In the opener, Caldwell got on the board in the opening as senior
Luis Rullan (Bloomfield, N.J.) singled with one out. Rullan scored later in the inning on a fielder's choice by senior
Tavis Brunson (Westfield, N.J.).

The Knights broke through in the fourth inning as they plated five runs to pull ahead 5-1. They added two runs in the sixth inning for a 7-1 lead.

The Cougars added a pair of runs in the seventh as senior
Jack Zosulis (East Windsor, N.J.) singled with one out and Brunson reached base on an error. The runners moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. Junior
Jalen March (Baltimore, Md.) drove in both runners with a double to cut the score to 7-3. Brunson added a solo homerun in the ninth to account for the Caldwell runs in the opener.

In the nightcap, Queens jumped out to an early lead with one run in the first and three in the third inning. Caldwell got two runs back in the third as junior
Frank Lehmann (Colonia, N.J.) drove in one run with a single, while March added a run scoring ground out to cut the score to 4-2.

The Knights added to their lead in the sixth as they scored twice to extend their lead to 6-2.

Caldwell battled back in the sixth as Rullan singled to lead off the inning. Zosulis followed with a triple to drive in Rullan. Freshman
Zach Saunders (Adelphi, Md.) drove in Zosulis with a sacrifice fly later in the inning to cut the score to 6-4.

In the ninth, Lehmann reached base on an error and advanced to second on a wild pitch. March tripled to score a run and close the gap to 6-5. Rullan tied the game with a single and Zosulis walked to move Rullan to second. Junior
Kyle Richards (Sayreville, N.J.) reached on a fielder's choice but an errant throw by the Queens third baseman allowed Rullan to come around to score the winning run.

Lehmann tossed a scoreless seventh inning to earn the win in relief.

The Cougars host Dominican College in their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener on Tuesday, March 23 at 2:30 pm at the Kiwanis Oval.
