Owen Healey (Washington, N.J.) netted five goals as the Cougars defeated St. Thomas Aquinas College 15-9 in their 2021 season opener.
The Cougars improve to 1-0, while the Spartans fall to 0-2.
Caldwell built a 5-2 lead as sophomore
Kevin Albright (Mays Landing, N.J.) scored twice in the opening quarter and added goal in the second quarter. Healey added two first half goals and an assist as Caldwell held a 7-4 halftime advantage.
Graduate
Chris Snow (Ledgewood, N.J) scored early in the second half but St. Thomas Aquinas closed the gap to 9-7 late in the third quarter.
The Cougars pushed ahead as freshman
Gage Herzog (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) netted a man-up goal, while sophomore
Michael Brown (Glenolden, Pa.) added a goal for a 11-7 lead early in the fourth quarter.
Caldwell pulled late in the game as Albright scored once and Healey netted the final three Cougar goals in the final 10 minutes of the game.
Healey led the way with five goals and one assist, while Albright finished with four goals and two assists. Brown netted three goals, while Snow totaled one goal and three assists.
The Cougars travel to Georgian Court University for a non-conference contest on Saturday, March 20 at 3:30 pm.
