BLOOMFIELD, N.J.- Caldwell University women's basketball sophomore
Halle Brown (Downingtown, Pa.) netted 13 points as the Cougars fell in their season opener to Bloomfield College 67-47 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars open their season at 0-1 and 0-1 in the CACC, while the Bears improve to 2-1 overall and in conference play.
Caldwell got off to a quick start as Brown connected on a triple to start the game. Junior
Paula Dits (Alicante, Spain) and junior
Tamrin Henderson (Woodbridge, Va.) each added buckets to give the Cougars a 7-2 lead at the 7:06 mark.
The Bears rallied back to take a two-point lead late in the quarter before Henderson converted two free throws in the final minute to even the score at 12. Bloomfield pushed ahead by nine points late in the quarter and held a 28-21 halftime advantage.
Bloomfield opened the second half with an 11-2 run and held a double-digit lead down the stretch.
Brown led the way with 13 points, four boards, three assists and three steals in the game. Dits totaled eight points, three rebounds and five assists.
The Cougars return to action as they host Georgian Court University on Tuesday, February 9 at 6 pm in a CACC contest. The game will be streamed on the CACC Network at caccnetwork.com.
