BRONXVILLE, N.Y.- Caldwell University women's volleyball sophomore
Victoria Marquez (Humble, Texas/Kingwood Park) netted 17 kills in the Cougars season opening 3-1 loss to Concordia College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars open their season at 0-1 overall and 0-1 in the CACC, while the Clippers improve to 1-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Caldwell took the opening set 25-20 but Concordia evened the match as they won the second set 25-22. The Clippers took the match with a 25-18 win in the third set and 25-18 in the fourth set.
Marquez led the way with 17 kills along with five digs. Junior
Elise Smith (O'Fallon, Ill/O'Fallon) tallied 10 kills, 21 digs and three total blocks.
Freshman
Reese Sherwood (Salem, Ore./Sprague) finished with five kills, 21 assists, two total blocks and 16 digs. Junior
Samantha Ashton (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) added 14 assists and eight digs.
