RUTHERFORD, N.J.- Caldwell University women's basketball junior
Shadajah Thomas (Plainfield, N.J.) dropped in 18 points as the Cougars edged Felician University 49-45 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars improve to 3-4 overall and 3-4 in the CACC, while the Golden Falcons fall to 0-8 overall and 0-8 in conference play.
Felician pulled ahead 12-8 late in the opening quarter. Caldwell answered with an 18-4 run to take a double-digit lead midway through the second quarter. Thomas led the way with seven points in the run while freshman
Jennifer Damoah (Montreal, Quebec, Canada/St. John College) added five points to help Caldwell build a 26-16 lead.
The Cougars extended their lead to 11 points early in the third quarter. The Golden Falcons rallied back to cut the score to 39-38 early in the fourth quarter. Caldwell answered with six straight points and maintained their lead down the stretch.
Thomas led the way with a career-best 18 points along with three rebounds and three steals. Damoah added 10 points and three steals, while junior
Tamrin Henderson (Woodbridge, Va./Edison) and sophomore
Jessica Wagoner (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) each totaled seven boards.
