RUTHERFORD, N.J.- Caldwell University men's basketball junior
Anthony Cooper (Ashburn, Va.) poured in a season-high 22 points as the Cougars fell to Felician University 84-74 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars fall to 2-2 on the season and 2-2 in the CACC, while the Golden Falcons improve to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Felician got off to a quick start with an 11-4 lead over the first five minutes of the game. Caldwell rallied back to pull ahead by four points late in the half. Freshman
Daniel Dade Jr. (Springfield, Mass.) drained a triple, while freshman
Ty-Shon Pannell (Central Islip, N.Y.) added a pair of trifectas to help the Cougars push ahead 27-23 with 4:26 remaining in the half.
The Golden Falcons retook a four-point lead late in the first half. The Cougars rallied in the final minute as Cooper drained a pair at the line to put Caldwell up 34-33 at halftime.
Felician regained the lead to start the second half and pushed ahead 52-45 at the 13:53 mark. Caldwell closed the gap to four points at 65-61 with under seven minutes to play but the Golden Falcons kept the Cougars at bay down the stretch.
Cooper led the Cougars with a season-high 22 points along with seven rebounds and three assists. Senior
Manley Dorme (Nanuet, N.Y.) netted 14 points, six boards and four assists, while Dade Jr. finished with 14 points. Pannell added 14 points, while graduate
Gerald Blount (Jersey City, N.J.) grabbed a game-high 11 boards.
