Gerald Blount (Jersey City, N.J.) each recorded double-doubles as the Cougars outlasted Nyack College 75-71 in overtime in a in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.

Mark A. Corino earned his 500th victory at Caldwell and his 595th overall in his coaching career.
The Cougars improve to 3-2 on the season and 3-2 in the CACC, while the Warriors fall to 3-2 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
Nyack led for most of the first half as they held a double-digit lead with under three minutes to play. The Cougars made a late run as Cooper drained three free throws and Blount scored in the final seconds to cut the score to 38-29 at halftime.
The Cougars rallied back to start the second half as they used a 13-5 run to cut the score to one point over the first eight minutes. Cooper netted seven points in the run, while Blount added four points as Caldwell closed the gap to 43-42 with 12:44 left in the second half.
The Warriors pushed ahead by six points at 50-44 with 11:110 remaining in the half. Freshman
Daniel Dade Jr. (Springfield, Mass.) dropped in a triple and added a bucket, while sophomore
Gabe Johnson (Bloomfield, N.J.) gave the Cougars their first lead of the game at 52-51 with a trifecta at the midway point. The teams traded points down the stretch with Dade Jr. connecting on a game-tying three-pointer in the final seconds to force overtime.
Nyack drained a three-pointer to start the extra period but those were the visitor's only points in overtime. Caldwell was proficient from the line in overtime connecting on 7-of-8 from the charity stripe with freshman
Jarnel Rancy (Middle Island, N.Y.) Blount, Dade Jr. and Johnson converting free throws to help the Cougars pull away.
Cooper netted a season-high 24 points along with 10 rebounds in the win. Blount also posted a double-double effort with 16 points and 14 boards, while Dade Jr. drained four from downtown, finishing with 16 points and three assists.
The Cougars and Warriors meet again on Caldwell's home floor on Tuesday, February 16 in a CACC contest at 6 pm. The game will be streamed on the CACC Network at caccnetwork.com.
