WILMINGTON, Del.- Caldwell University women's volleyball sophomore
Reese Sherwood (Salem, Ore.) paced the Cougars with 21 kills as the Cougars came up short to Goldey-Beacom College 3-2 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match.
The Cougars fall to 2-12 overall and 2-5 in the CACC, while the Lightning improve to 7-11 and 3-5 in conference play.
The Cougars took the opening set 25-15 but the Lightning won the next two sets 25-18 and 25-15. Caldwell battled back to even the match with 25-22 win in the fourth set. The fifth set was a back and forth battle with the set being tied at 10 before the Lightning pushed ahead to win 15-11 and win the match.
Sherwood led the Cougars with 21 kills and 18 digs, while sophomore
Amanda Schiltz (Durham, N.C.) tallied 13 kills and seven total blocks (three solo).
Graduate
Shayna Saltzman (Pine Beach, N.J.) added seven kills, three aces and 13 digs. Senior
Samantha Ashton (Colonia, N.J.) totaled 36 assists, two blocks and 11 digs.
Senior
Humiko Stormer (Luckey, Ohio) recorded 14 digs, while freshman
Karin Ojeda (Toms River, N.J.) netted 15 digs and two aces.
The Cougars travel to Bloomfield College for a CACC contest on Wednesday, October 13 at 7 pm.
