Cooper Scores 21 Points as Men’s Basketball Falls to Holy Family

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- Caldwell University men's basketball sophomore Anthony Cooper (Ashburn, Va.) netted 21 points as the Cougars fall to Holy Family University 69-51 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
 
The Cougars fall to 12-12 and 8-8 in the CACC, while the Tigers improve to 8-17 and 5-11 in conference play.
 
Holy Family took the early lead as they opened up at 16-5 lead midway through the first half. Caldwell battled back as senior Ned Ogoemesim (Westampton, N.J.) drained a triple with just under 10 minutes to play. Cooper netted 13 points over the final nine minutes to help the Cougars close the gap to 27-25 at halftime.
 
Caldwell got off a strong start to the second half as they pulled ahead as Ogoemesim drained a triple at the 16:06 mark. The Cougars pulled ahead by eight points at 43-35 with 11:53 remaining in the game. The Tigers answered as they retook the lead midway through the half and stretched their lead to double digits over the final six minutes.
 
Cooper led the way with 21 points and five rebounds. Ogoemesim added 11 points and five boards, while senior AJ Kittles (Glassboro, N.J.) tallied nine points and nine rebounds. Freshman Gabe Johnson (Bloomfield, N.J.) grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds in the loss.
 
The Cougars host Dominican College for a CACC contest on Saturday, February 22 at 3:00 pm. Saturday's game will feature Caldwell's "Super Saturday" Alumni Event as well as its Mental Health Awareness game.
