CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University women's volleyball team outlasted Felician University in a five set thrilling victory to take over sole possession of first place in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division.
The Cougars improve to 5-9 overall and 3-0 in the CACC, while the Golden Falcons fall to 3-12 and 2-1 in conference play.
Caldwell took the opening set 25-18 but Felician battled back to win the second set 25-20. The Cougars won the third set 25-19 but the Golden Falcons held serve, winning the fourth set 26-24. Caldwell surged ahead 8-5 in the deciding set on their way to a 15-8 victory.
Sophomore
Elise Smith (O'Fallon, Ill.) led the way with 27 kills, 16 digs and three total blocks. Junior
Chloe Kissner (Seabrook, Texas) chipped in 20 kills, while senior
Katie Compagno (Orland Park, Ill.) finished with four kills and six blocks.
Freshman
Cassandra Rother (Fresno, Calif.) totaled five aces, six digs and three blocks, while
sophomore
Samantha Ashton (Colonia, N.J) tallied 53 assists and 11 digs. Sophomore
Humiko Stormer (Luckey, Ohio) recorded 21 digs, while sophomore
Lisbeth Suarez (Bogota, N.J.) netted 13 digs.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday, September 28 as they host Nyack College in a CACC North Division contest at 1 pm at the George R. Newman Center.
