Kassaleh Nets 200th Career Goal as Women’s Lacrosse Rallies Past Chestnut Hill

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- Caldwell University women's lacrosse junior Arden Kassaleh (Pompton Plains, N.J.) netted her 200th career goal as the Cougars rallied back Chestnut Hill College 18-15 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.  
 
The Cougars improve to 5-10 overall and 4-4 in the CACC, while the Griffins drop to 4-9 and 3-5 in conference play. The win is the program's first victory over Chestnut Hill in after losing the first six meetings.
 
The Griffins opened the game with four goals take a 4-0 lead. Kassaleh and senior Rachel Lucia (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) scored the Cougars to cut the score to 4-2. Chestnut Hill added a goal but Caldwell netted three straight tallies to tie the game.
 
Sophomore Samantha Murphy (Pompton Plains, N.J.), freshman Emily Lasko (Jackson, N.J.) and senior Jessica Collum (Wayne, N.J.) scored goals to tie the game at five. The Griffins answered with three goals to pull ahead 8-5 late in the half.
 
Kassaleh netted back-to-back goals, while freshman Jenna Steelman (Mays Landing, N.J.) tied the game with a goal at the 6:24 mark. Collum added her second goal of the game to put Caldwell in front 9-8 at halftime.
 
Chestnut Hill battled back to start the second half as they netted two goals to retake the lead at 10-9. Caldwell rallied back with five unanswered goals as Lasko tied the game at 10. Lasko added a second goal in the run, while Collum, Steelman and Kassaleh added goals to push ahead 14-10.
 
The Griffins netted a goal but Steelman and Kassaleh tallied goals to extend their lead to 16-11. Murphy and Kassaleh added goals late in the game for Caldwell.
 
Kassaleh led the way with six goals, four assists, three ground balls and 13 draw controls. Collum, Steelman and Lasko each tallied three goals each, while Collum adding six ground balls and Lasko recording five ground balls. Murphy totaled two goals, one assist and six draw controls.
 
Freshman Mia Monacelli (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) recorded 13 saves in the win.
 
Caldwell wrap up the regular season as they host Holy Family University on Saturday, April 27 at 10 a.m. at Essex Valley Field in West Caldwell. Prior to the game, the Cougars will recognize their graduating seniors.
