ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y.- The Caldwell University softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader against Molloy College. The Cougars won the opener 6-3 and completed the sweep with a 5-2 win in the nightcap.

The Cougars improve to 25-17 overall, while the Lions drop to 16-27.

In the opener, the Lions took the early lead with three runs in the second inning. Caldwell got on the board in the fourth inning as junior
Christina Misiur (Sayreville, N.J.) hit into a fielder's choice to drive in the first Cougar run.

The Cougars rallied with three runs in the sixth inning as sophomore
Paige Sandoval (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) and sophomore
Maya Rodriguez (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) led off with singles. Misiur reached on an error to load the bases with one out. Senior
Carly Testa (Sicklerville, N.J.) followed with a single with all three runners scoring on an error to put the Cougars in front 4-3.

Caldwell added a pair of runs in the seventh as they scored one run on an error. Sophomore
Kaileen Cain (Hauppauge, N.Y.) doubled in a run later in the inning for a 6-3 lead.

Junior
Sara Bearden (Ewing, N.J.) improved to 12-6 overall as she tossed a complete game, allowing three runs in five hits with six strikeouts.

Caldwell pulled ahead early in the nightcap as Cain was hit by a pitch to start the second inning. Junior
Jessie Johnston (Livermore, Calif.) doubled with two outs to score Cain for a 1-0 lead.

Freshman
Nora Conway (Chicago, Ill.) singled with one out in the third to start a rally. Rodriguez blasted a two-run homerun for a 3-0 advantage. The Cougars tacked on two runs in the fourth as Testa singled to start the inning. Johnston doubled in a run and scored later in the inning on a double steal.

Mariah Culver (Owego, N.Y.) tossed a complete game, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits with seven strikeouts to improve to 11-10.
