PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The Caldwell University baseball team fell in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader to the University of the Sciences on Saturday afternoon. The Devils won the opener 7-2 and took the nightcap 18-3.

The Cougars fall to 10-23 overall and 8-16 in the CACC, while the Devils improve to 15-22 and 11-13 in conference play.

Caldwell got on the board in the first inning of game one as freshman
Alejandro Mejia (Naples, Fla.) led off with a single and stole second. Senior
Anthony Parente (Jackson, N.J.) ripped a double to score Mejia with the first run of the game.

The Devils answered to score six runs over the first and second innings to take a 6-1 lead.

In the third, Mejia got things going with a leadoff single. He stole second and scored on a base hit by senior
Mason Marino (Brooklyn, N.Y.).

Parente tossed two innings, allowing six runs on five hits. Junior
Kenneth Matta (Union, N.J.) pitched the final six innings, allowing one unearned run on eight hits.

In the nightcap, the Devils score 16 runs over the first four innings to take the lead.

Caldwell got on the board with two runs in the sixth inning. Freshman
Juan Nunez (Roselle Park, N.J.) singled in a run in the inning, while junior
Jack Zosulis (East Windsor, N.J.) scored later in the inning on an error. The Cougars added a run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by junior
