CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University baseball team snapped their losing streak as they swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader against Nyack College for their first conference wins of the season. Caldwell took the opener 14-6 and won the nightcap 8-3.

The Cougars improve to 4-12 overall and 2-6 in the CACC, while the Warriors fall to 6-15-1 and 2-6 in conference play.

Caldwell got on the board with two runs in the first inning. Junior
Joseph Mitchell (Bogota, N.J.) singled with two runners on base to help the Cougars take a 2-0 lead. Nyack tied the game with two runs in the third inning.

The Cougars loaded the bases in their half of the third inning as junior
Luis Rullan (Bloomfield, N.J.), senior
Anthony Parente (Jackson, N.J.) and senior
Mason Marino (Brooklyn, N.Y.) each singled to start the inning. Junior
Dylan Walicky (Belleville, N.J.) ripped a three-run double to put the Cougars back in the lead at 5-2.

Nyack matched the Cougars with three runs in the top of the fourth to even the score at five.

Caldwell loaded the bases to start the fifth inning. Freshman
Alejandro Mejia (Naples, Fla.) drew a walk to force in a run. Freshman
Dhillon Barbetti (West Long Branch, N.J.) drove in a pair of runs with a single, while Rullan added a run scoring hit. Rullan scored later in the inning on a wild pitch.

The Cougars tacked on three runs in the seventh as Mitchell doubled in a run. Walicky, as part of five RBI game, drove in two runs with a single.

Freshman
Frank Lehmann (Colonia, N.J.) tossed eight innings, allowing six runs (earned) on 10 hits with seven strikeouts to earn his first collegiate win. Senior
Anthony Frascati (Bloomfield, N.J.) retired all three batters he faced in the ninth.

Caldwell took the early lead in the nightcap as Rullan singled with one out. Parente doubled to put runners in scoring position with Rullan scoring on a Marino ground out.

The Cougars added two runs in the second as Barbetti drove in a run on a ground out. Lehmann singled to drive in a run to extend the lead to 3-0. Nyack scored two runs in the third and tied the game with a run in the fifth inning.

Caldwell retook the lead in their half of the inning as pinch hitter junior
Tavis Brunson (Westfield, N.J.) doubled in a pair of runs. The Cougars took advantage of an error later in the inning to score two more runs. Caldwell added a run in the sixth as Parente and Mitchell doubled in the inning.

Frascati tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, striking out four to improve to 2-0.
