POMONA, N.Y.- The Caldwell University baseball team fell to Dominican College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader. The Cougars fell 25-6 in the opener and lost the nightcap 24-2.

The Cougars fall to 2-8 overall and open conference play at 0-2. The Chargers improve to 9-6 overall and 2-0 in the CACC.

In the opener, the Chargers scored three runs in the first inning and added eight in the second. Caldwell got two runs in the top of the second as senior
Chris Herrera (Passaic, N.J.) singled to lead off the inning and stole second. Junior
Jack Zosulis (East Windsor, N.J.) was hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second. Herrera moved to third on a fly out and scored on a ground out by freshman
Giovanni Mattis (Davie, Fla.). Barbetti singled later in the inning to score Zosulis.

Caldwell added two runs in the fifth inning as freshmen
Alejandro Mejia (Naples, Fla.) and
Jalen March (Baltimore, Md.) to lead off the inning. The runners moved into scoring position on a passed ball and Mejia scored on a Barbetti ground out. Freshman
Frank Lehmann (Colonia, N.J.) singled later in the inning to score March.

In the ninth, Mejia singled with one out and advanced to third on a passed ball. Junior
Tavis Brunson (Westfield, N.J.) drew a walk and pulled off a double steal with Mejia to score a run. Caldwell loaded the bases and Brunson scored as senior
Anthony Parente (Jackson, N.J.) was hit by a pitch to force in a run.

In the nightcap, Caldwell scored their two runs in the fifth inning as Lehmann reached on an error to start the inning. Lehmann stole second and scored on a Parente single. Senior
Mason Marino (Brooklyn, N.Y.) drew a walk and Zosulis singled to load the bases. Freshman
Kyle Richards (Sayreville, N.J.) drove in Parente with a sacrifice fly.
