LANTANA, Fla.- Caldwell University baseball freshman
Frank Lehmann (Colonia, N.J.) collected three hits as the Cougars fell to Post University 8-6 on their Florida spring trip.
The Cougars fall to 2-3, while the Eagles improve to 2-4.
Caldwell took the early lead with three runs in the opening inning. Junior
Jack Zosulis (East Windsor, N.J.) drove in two runs with a two-out single. Junior
Luis Rullan (Bloomfield, N.J.) added a run scoring single to give Caldwell a 3-0 lead.
The Eagles took the lead in the bottom half of the inning as they scored four runs.
The Cougars retook the lead in the top of the season as Lehmann tied the game with a run scoring double. Senior
Chris Herrera (Passaic, N.J.) gave Caldwell a 5-4 lead with a sacrifice fly.
Post took back the lead in the fifth with a pair of runs. The Eagles added two runs in the sixth inning to jump in front 8-5. Caldwell added a run in the seventh as Zosulis scored on a passed ball.
Freshman
Jerry Gamone (Union, N.J.) got the start on the mound, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits with six strikeout. Senior
Anthony Frascati (Bloomfield, N.J.) tossed 2 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on two hits. Junior
Michael Hess (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings.
The Cougars continue their Florida road trip as they take on Merrimack College on Wednesday, March 13 at Santaluces Sports Complex at 2 p.m.
