CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University men's basketball junior
Ruud Lutterman (Dalem, Netherlands) came off the bench to score 13 points as the Cougars won their seventh straight game with a 69-65 win over Holy Family University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars improve to 15-10 overall and 11-5 in the CACC, while the Tigers fall to 11-11 and 7-8 in conference play.
Holy Family raced out to a 17-12 lead midway through the opening half. Caldwell battled back with an 18-7 run to pull ahead by six points late in the half.
Freshman
Anthony Cooper (Ashburn Va.) drained a triple in the run, while Lutterman totaled five points, including a three-point play. Senior
Ahmad Harrison (Newark, N.J.) capped the run with a three-pointer at the 3:40 mark to put Caldwell in front 30-24.
Holy Family closed the gap in the final minutes but the Cougars led 32-30 at halftime.
Caldwell pulled ahead by nine points at 43-34 early in the second half but Holy Family battled back. The Tigers rallied back to take a 48-45 lead near the midway point of the half.
The teams traded leads over the next five minutes but Lutterman's three-point play at the 3:12 mark gave Caldwell their final lead. The Cougars hit four free throws in the final minutes including a pair from junior
AJ Kittles (Glassboro, N.J.).
Lutterman led the way with 13 points, nine rebounds and two steals. Kittles chipped in 13 points, seven boards, three assists and two steals. Harrison totaled 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Junior
Ned Ogoemesim (Westampton, N.J.) finished with eight points, five boards and two assists.
The Cougars travel to Nyack College on Saturday, February 23 for a CACC contest at 3 p.m.
