CALDWELL, N.J- Caldwell University men's basketball junior
Ned Ogoemesim (Westampton, N.J.) posted a game-high 19 points as the Cougars overcame a first half deficit to defeat Felician University 87-74 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars extend their win streak to six as they improve to 14-10 overall and 10-5 in the CACC, while the Golden Falcons drop to 10-11 and 8-6 in conference play.
The teams traded leads most of the first half as Felician pulled ahead 36-30 at the 3:16 mark. Senior
Ahmad Harrison (Newark, N.J.) rallied the Cougars back as he converted a three-point play to spark a 7-0 run. Sophomore
Manley Dorme (Nanuet, N.Y.) drained a pair at the line, while Harrison connected on a jumper to put Caldwell in front 37-36 with 1:20 to play. The Golden Falcons added a late bucket to hold a 38-37 lead at halftime.
Felician got off to a fast start in the second half as they pushed ahead 52-43 with 16:05 remaining in the game. Harrison drained a triple to trigger a Cougars comeback with 24-9 run. Ogoemesim added a three-pointer and totaled nine points in the run. Junior
AJ Kittles (Glassboro, N.J.) added six points and capped the run at the 8:16 mark with a lay-up to give Caldwell a 67-61 lead.
The Golden Falcons closed the gap to three points at 69-66 but Caldwell pulled away with a 14-3 run. Ogoemesim, Harrison and Dorme each netted four points to help the Cougars extend their lead to 83-69 with 2:15 remaining in the game. Caldwell held off Felician to earn their sixth consecutive victory.
Ogoemesim led the way with 19 points, four rebounds, five assists and two steals. Dorme chipped in 18 points and four boards, while Harrison tallied 15 points and eight assists. Kittles posted 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Junior
Vaughn Covington (Sicklerville, N.J.) finished with seven points, eight rebounds and four steals.
The Cougars host Holy Family University for a CACC contest on Saturday, February 16 at 3 p.m.
