CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University women's basketball team fell to Post University 75-44 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action.
The Cougars fall to 1-7 overall and 1-2 in the CACC, while the Eagles improve to 5-2 and 1-0 in conference play.
Caldwell opened up an 11-7 lead midway through the opening quarter as freshman
Halle Brown (Downingtown, Pa.) drained an early trifecta. Freshman
Rebecca Morrison (Ayrshire, Scotland) netted four points in the run. The Eagles rallied back to take a 15-14 lead after the first quarter.
The teams traded leads through the second quarter as Post scored the final five points to lead 23-20 at halftime.
Post extended their lead to double digits midway through the third quarter. Graduate
Alessia Smaldone (Malnate, Italy) drained a triple to help cut the score to 39-33 late in the quarter. The Eagles pushed ahead 45-35 at the end of the quarter.
Senior
Tina Lebron (Manalapan, N.J.) drained a triple early in the fourth quarter to cut the score to 47-38. Post opened up a 58-40 lead and held a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Morrison led the way with 10 points and six rebounds, while sophomore
Tamrin Henderson (Woodbridge, Va.) netted nine points and five boards. Smaldone finished with nine points, two rebounds and four assists. Brown totaled six points and three assists, while sophomore
Paula Dits (Alicante, Spain) posted four points and six boards.
The Cougars host Assumption College in a non-conference contest on Saturday, December 14 at 4 pm.
