CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University men's soccer team earned a 2-1 win over Jefferson in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest on senior day.
The Cougars improve to 4-12-0 overall and 4-7-0 in the CACC, while the Rams fall to 6-9-1 and 6-4-0 in conference play.
Caldwell got on the board in the sixth minute as they earned an own goal off a corner kick. The Cougars added to their lead just before half time as junior keeper
Nils Svere (Lier, Norway) kicked a long ball to freshman
Andre Vieira (Union, N.J.) for a 2-0 lead.
Jefferson closed the gap in the 74th minute with a goal to cut the score to 2-1. The Cougars defense battled late as they held on for the win.
Svere posted 10 saves in the win.
Prior to the game, the men's soccer program honored its three graduating seniors that include
Erlend Aase (Bergen, Norway),
Tobias Block (Aahus, Sweden) and
Luca Cacciottolo (Boonton, N.J.).
The Cougars conclude their season on Tuesday, November 5 as they travel to Nyack College for a 1 pm contest. The game will be played at Lincoln Park in Jersey City, N.J.
