JERSEY CITY, N.J.- The Caldwell University men's soccer team concluded their 2019 season on Tuesday afternoon with a 3-2 victory over Nyack College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars end their season at 5-12-0 and 5-7-0 in the CACC, while the Warriors fall to 2-13-2 and 1-10-0 in conference play.
Nyack netted the first goal of the game in the seventh minute of play to take an early lead.
Caldwell answered in the 35th minute as freshman
Andre Vieira (Union, N.J.) tallied the tying goal off an assists from senior
Tobias Block (Aahus, Sweden).
The Cougars pushed ahead early in the second half as sophomore
Andrea Rizzi (Aosta, Italy) put Caldwell ahead 2-1 off an assist from senior
Erlend Aase (Bergen, Norway). Aase added to the Caldwell lead as he netted a goal in the 60th minute off an assist from junior
Kevin Avila (Newark, N.J.) to move the score to 3-1.
Nyack closed the gap in the 80th minute as the Warriors netted a goal to cut the score to 3-2. The Cougars held on for the one goal win.
