CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University women's volleyball sophomore
Humiko Stormer (Luckey, Ohio) recorded her 1,000th career dig as the Cougars defeated Jefferson 3-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship Quarterfinals on Tuesday night.
The Cougars improve to 14-18 overall and advance to the CACC semifinals on Saturday. The Rams fall to 17-12.
Caldwell won the match in three sets, 25-21, 25-20 and 25-23.
Junior
Chloe Kissner (Seabrook, Texas) led the way with 18 kills and two digs. Junior
Marina Schlaepfer (Aurora, Colo.) totaled 15 kills, nine digs and two aces. Sophomore
Elise Smith (O'Fallon, Ill.) finished with 11 kills and four digs. Senior
Katie Compagno (Orland Park, Ill.) added four kills.
Junior
Alejandra Leal Montes (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) recorded eight digs, while sophomore
Annaleis Varela (Davison, Mich.) totaled seven digs. Sophomore
Sophie Hicks (Christchurch, New Zealand) tallied 39 assists and four digs.
Stormer reached her milestone in the third set of the match, becoming only the eighth Caldwell player in the rally-scoring era with 1,000 digs. She finished the match with 17 digs.
The Cougars advance in the CACC Championship and will face S#1 Georgian Court University in the semifinals on Saturday, November 23 at 1 pm. The CACC Championship Final Four will be hosted on the campus of Holy Family University.
