PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The Caldwell University women's volleyball team's season ended on Saturday afternoon as the Cougars fell to South Division #1 seed Georgian Court University 3-1 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship Semifinals. It was the Cougars fourth straight appearance in the conference semifinals.
The Cougars end their season at 14-19 overall, while the Lions improve to 29-6 overall and advance to Sunday's championship match.
Georgian Court won the first two sets 25-14 and 25-15. Caldwell battled back to take the third set 27-25. The teams battled through the fourth set but the Lions took the win 25-21.
Sophomore
Elise Smith (O'Fallon, Ill.) led the way with 15 kills, two blocks and five digs. Junior
Marina Schlaepfer (Aurora, Colo.) chipped in 10 kills and nine digs, while junior
Chloe Kissner (Seabrook, Texas) added nine kills and two blocks.
Senior
Katie Compagno (Orland Park, Ill.), playing in her final collegiate match, finished with four kills and four total blocks, including three solo.
Sophomore
Sophie Hicks (Christchurch, New Zealand) recorded 30 assists and eight digs, while sophomore
Humiko Stormer (Luckey, Ohio) totaled 15 digs and three aces.
