Women's Volleyball Falls to Wilmington on Senior Day; Secure Second Place in North Division

CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University women's volleyball team fell to Wilmington University 3-2 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match on senior day. The Cougars secure second place in the CACC North Division and will host South #3 Jefferson in the CACC Championship Quarterfinals on Tuesday night.  
 
The Cougars fall to 13-18 overall and finish 11-8 in the CACC, while the Wildcats improve to 20-13 and end 12-7 in conference play.
 
Wilmington won the opening set 25-23, but Caldwell won the next two sets 29-27 and 28-26. The Wildcats took the fourth set 25-19 and won the fifth set 15-9.
 
Junior Marina Schlaepfer (Aurora, Colo.) tallied 22 kills, two aces and seven digs. Sophomore Elise Smith (O'Fallon, Ill.) totaled 19 kills and five digs, while junior Chloe Kissner (Seabrook, Texas) chipped in 12 kills, two blocks and three digs.
 
Senior Katie Compagno (Orland Park, Ill.) posted five kills and three blocks, while freshman Cassandra Rother (Fresno, Calif.) added three kills, three aces, three blocks and three digs.
 
Sophomore Sophie Hicks (Christchurch, New Zealand) finished with 38 assists, two aces and seven digs, while sophomore Samantha Ashton (Colonia, N.J.) netted 16 assists, two aces and four digs. Sophomore Humiko Stormer (Luckey, Ohio) totaled 35 digs.
 
Prior to the match, the Caldwell volleyball program recognized its seniors in Compagno and her brother John, who has been the program's team manager.
 
The Cougars locked up the #2 seed in the North Division and will host South #3 Jefferson in the CACC Championship Quarterfinals on Tuesday, November 19 at 6 pm.
