PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The Caldwell University women's tennis team earned their first win of the season as they defeated Holy Family University 4-3 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars improve to 1-5 overall and 1-4 in the CACC, while the Tigers drop to 0-7 and 0-6 in conference play.
Holy Family won doubles play as sophomore
Lauryn Schwint (Sparta, N.J.) and sophomore
Anne Ilardi (Oak Ridge, N.J.) came up short at #1 doubles 7-6. Senior
Janis Jimenez (Shrub Oak, N.Y.) and freshman
Kathryn Hurlbut (LaHabra, Calif.) fell at #2 doubles 6-3.
The Cougars won four of the top five singles matches to take home their first victory of the season. Jimenez won at top singles 6-3, 6-3. Sophomore
Kiana Wiggins (Washington, N.J.) captured the win at #2 singles 6-2, 6-3, while Schwint won at #4 singles 6-2, 6-4. Hurlbut earned at 6-0, 6-2 win at #5 singles to help Caldwell earn the win.
The Cougars host Dominican College on Wednesday, October 9 at 3 pm in a CACC match.
