WEST POINT, N.Y.- The Caldwell University sprint football team fell to Army West Point 38-6 in Collegiate Sprint Football League play.

The Cougars fall to 2-3 overall, while the Black Knights improve to 4-1.

Army got on the board with a touchdown in the opening quarter for a 7-0 lead. The Black Knights added a pair of touchdowns and a field goal in the second quarter to extend their lead to 24-0 late in the quarter.

Caldwell battled back just before halftime as freshman
Timothy Palmer Jr. (Hawthorne, N.J.) guided the Cougar offense on a five-play, 75-yard scoring drive. Palmer had a key 10-yard run on third-and-nine and connected with sophomore
Dajuan Carr (Newark, N.J.) for 15 pass connection. Palmer capped the drive with a 34-yard touchdown pass to junior
Nysir Smith (Newark, N.J.) to cut the score to 24-6 at halftime.

After a scoreless third quarter, Army added two touchdowns in the final quarter.

Palmer finished with 10 carries for 46 yards and passed for 139 yards in the air and one score. Smith totaled 39 rushing yards on 15 carries and scored the lone touchdown in the air. Sophomore
Armani Bermudez (Newark, N.J.) added 12 carries for 39 yards. Freshman
Frank DeMaio (Nutley, N.J.) led the receivers with four catches for 48 yards.

On defense, freshman
Jahmall Readus (Paterson, N.J.) led the way with nine tackles, while freshman
Ernesto Hernandez (Union, N.J.) added seven tackles. Sophomore
Haleem Woods (Plainfield, N.J.) totaled five tackles and one interception. Junior
Randy Antenor (Jersey City, N.J.) posted four tackles, 1.5 for losses and a half sack.
