CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa- Caldwell University sprint football sophomore
Armani Bermudez (Newark, N.J.) found the end zone as the Cougars fell to Chestnut Hill College 28-11 in Collegiate Sprint Football League play.
The Cougars fall to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the CSFL South Division, while the Griffins improve to 4-2 and 2-2 in division play.
The Griffins got on the board midway through the opening quarter with a touchdown and successful two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead. Caldwell broke through late in the quarter as junior
Christian Cornelius (Woodland Park, N.J.) booted a 30-yard field goal to cut the score to 8-3.
Chestnut Hill pushed ahead late in the third with three touchdowns, including two in the final quarter to extend their lead to 28-3.
Caldwell added a score late in the fourth quarter as Bermudez found the end zone from five yards out. Freshman
Timothy Palmer Jr. (Hawthorne, N.J.) passed to Bermudez for a successful two-point conversion to cut the score to 28-11.
Palmer finished with 73 passing yards and rushed for 15 yards. Bermudez broke the 100-yard rushing mark for the third time this season with 20 carries for 101 yards and a touchdown.
Junior
Royce Francisco (Passaic, N.J.) led the Cougar defense with eight tackles, including 1.5 for losses. Senior
Adam Robbs (Westhampton, N.J.) added seven tackles, one fumble recovery and one interception. Junior
Randy Antenor (Jersey City, N.J.) tallied four tackles and 0.5 sacks.
The Cougars conclude their 2019 season as they host the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, November 2 at 7 pm at James Caldwell High School.
