Ogoemesim Leads Balanced Scoring Attack as Men’s Basketball Downs Georgian Court

CALDWELL, N.J- Caldwell University men's basketball junior Ned Ogoemesim (Westampton, N.J.) led a balanced scoring attack as the Cougars pulled away from Georgian Court to earn a 67-50 victory in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play.
 
The Cougars improve to 7-7 overall and 3-2 in the CACC, while the Lions drop to 2-11 and 1-3 in conference play.
 
The teams traded leads over most of the first half as Ogoemesim led the Cougars with 11 points over the first 20 minutes of the game. The Cougars held a 22-28 lead with 6:20 left in the half. The Lions battled back to pull even at 22.
 
Caldwell took control of the game with a 26-9 run that stretched into the second half as they took a double-digit lead. Ogoemesim connected on three from downtown as he scored 11 points in the run. Junior AJ Kittles (Glassboro, N.J.) drained a pair of triples, while senior Ahmad Harrison (Newark, N.J.) added one three-pointer in the game-deciding rally.
 
Junior Vaughn Covington (Sicklerville, N.J.) capped the run with a lay-up at the 14:38 mark to put Caldwell in front 48-31. The Cougars maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
 
Ogoemesim shot 4-for-5 from downtown as he finished with 17 points and seven rebounds in the win. Kittles shot 3-for-6 from behind the arc as he totaled 14 points, eight boards and three steals. Junior Eric Johnson-Alford (Clifton, N.J.) added 11 points and six boards, while Covington posted 10 points and six assists. Harrison chipped in eight points, six boards, three assists and two steals.
 
The Cougars host the North Division co-leader in Dominican College on Tuesday, January 8 at 7:30 pm.
